Arkansas Snow Goose Hunting with Getm Waterfowl

GETM Waterfowl Adventures is your go to Arkansas Snow Goose Hunting Outfitter. We offer Northeast Arkansas Snow Goose Hunts, which are known for the massive numbers of snow geese that winter there each hunting season. Located near the Cache River, this is a perfect area to hunt trafficking and feeding snow geese. The area is made up of mostly rice, corn, and soybean fields with many areas managed/flooded for waterfowl. You are sure to see migrating and wintering waterfowl of all types. All Migrator/Traffic blinds are heated and have approximately 4-5 thousand decoys, multiple motion systems, and E-Callers. Migrator/Traffic hunts are all day and fully guided. Feed/Mobile Crew hunts are typically hunting from layout chairs with white suits or A-Frames with approx. 500 full body decoys or windsocks. Feed/Mobile Crew hunts are until noon each day, then decoys will be picked up and scouting will begin for the next day’s hunt. Lodging is included with all Arkansas Snow Goose Hunts. Also, there is No License or Permit Fees for the Arkansas Light Goose Conservation Season. Our guides are experienced in making your hunting experience easy, safe and successful. Arkansas Snow Goose Hunts: Day of the Hunt

As you gear up for your Arkansas Snow Goose Hunt, here’s a quick guide to help you prepare for a memorable day. From the early arrival at the meeting spot to getting outfitted by your guide and settling into the blind, this outline will ensure you’re well-prepared for an action-packed and successful hunting experience in Arkansas’ beautiful landscape.

Arrival at the Lodge

Arkansas Snow Goose Hunters should plan to arrive at their lodge the day before the hunt, checking in anytime after 3 PM. Fuel up and gather any necessary food or drinks roughly 45 minutes before arrival, as there are no nearby services beyond this point.

Morning of the Hunt

Around 5 AM on hunt day, hunters will head to the guide’s lodge, which is a short 5-minute drive from the accommodations. Complimentary drinks, including coffee and water, will be available, and there will be apparel for purchase. Bring cash to avoid credit card fees.

Meet Your Guide

Upon check-in, hunters will meet their guide, go over weather forecasts, migration updates, and hunt expectations for the day. This is also the time to settle any remaining dues and ask questions about the hunt.

Travel to the Hunting Field

Following the guide to the hunting location, hunters will load their gear into Polaris Rangers for transport to the blinds or pits. Heaters will be ready to keep everyone comfortable during cold February mornings.

Enjoy the Hunt

As the sun rises, hunters will experience the excitement of Arkansas’ skies filled with ducks and geese. Thousands of snow geese will be feeding in the area on rice, corn, and winter wheat. The Cache River also offers a historic flight route for migrating snow geese. We use these areas for all of our setups to offer the best opportunities for success. Hunters are encouraged to stay until dusk, as the last 30 minutes often yield the best results. A typical day in our Arkansas Traffic Blinds yields around 20-30 birds, while our feed hunts often bring in 30-50 birds. With the right conditions, it’s not unusual to see numbers close to 100 or more from either type of hunt. Thanks to Arkansas’ abundant wintering snow geese, the hunting here offers an exhilarating experience like no other!

Post-Hunt Wrap-Up

Once the hunt is over, your guide will assist with loading gear and harvested birds. Don’t forget to take plenty of pictures as well! Please remember to tip your guide at this time, because it’s uncertain if you will have the same guide for the following hunt. We recommend a minimum of $20 per man. Muck boots are recommended due to potentially muddy conditions in Arkansas.

Arkansas Difference Between Traffic & Feeds

Many hunters ask, “What’s the difference between our feed hunts and traffic hunts?” For traffic hunts, we rely on large decoy spreads, comfortable blinds, and natural flight paths to attract snow geese to fields they weren’t planning to visit. With 3-5 thousand decoys, these hunts offer significant drawing power for high-flying flocks and typically yield 15-30 birds per day, though 100+ bird days are possible with ideal conditions.

In contrast, feed hunts involve smaller, more mobile decoy setups targeting areas where snow geese have already been scouted. We position right on their feeding grounds, using A-frame blinds or layout chairs with white suits or ghillie blankets for concealment. This approach often results in 30-50 birds per day, with the possibility of reaching 100+ birds. Feed hunts conclude at noon, allowing time to scout for the next day’s hunt.
