FAQ

*Please refer to IDNR or AGFC for specific questions about hunting regulations and license fees.

Q: What license and stamps do I need to hunt?

A: Illinois Snow Goose Hunts: You will need a resident or nonresident license including a State Waterfowl Stamp, HIP Certification, Habitat Stamp. Youth, Disabled, and Veteran hunters should refer to IDNR hunting digest for exclusions.

Arkansas Snow Goose Hunts: You will need your free Arkansas conservation order permit and a valid hunting license from any state. Hunters do not need a Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp, Arkansas Waterfowl Stamp or HIP registration, but must have a valid hunting license from any state (excludes youths 15 and younger). For regular duck season regulations please visit Waterfowl • Arkansas Game & Fish Commission (agfc.com)

Q: Does GETM Waterfowl accommodate disabled hunters?

A: Yes we do. Please notify staff of specific disabilities during the booking process so we can be sure to have accommodations ready to meet your needs.

Q: Can I bring my dog on the hunt?

A: Yes, although it is expected your dog minds all commands and is controlled by the owner for safety reasons. We recommend only 1 dog per blind or group.

Q: What does an average hunt consist of?

A: You will meet with your group at the designated meeting location/lodge and pay any dues owed for that day. At this time you will receive a safety and regulations briefing. Afterwards your guide will transport you to the blind/pit and instruct you on any specific details needed to begin your hunt. Hunters can hunt a full day or a half day if they choose to do so. Hunters can also cook in the blinds or leave for lunch. Shooting time begins 30 minutes before sunrise and ends 30 mins after sunset.

Q: What are some activities our group can do after the hunt?

A: Southern Illinois has large amounts of Shawnee National Forest as well as other public lands and waters for endless fishing/hunting opportunities. A short drive away from Marion, IL or Paducah, KY offers many different stores and restaurants.

Northeast Arkansas is more limited on activities, although a short drive into Walnut Ridge or Corning and you will find several nice restaurants and stores.

Q: What shot size and choke tube are recommended?

A: We recommend hunters shoot a mid range (30-40yrds) style choke tube. Shot size for geese should be BB,#1, or #2 shot.

Q: Do I need waders?

A: Hunters will not need waders for the conservation goose season, but we do recommend waders for the regular waterfowl season while hunting flooded fields.
